Shaping open minds

What our eyes can see is not the same as what our minds perceive.

Our brains give meaning to our experiences based on what we know.

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) connects what we see to what we think & communicate and opens up our minds to different perspectives.

The Thinking Eye develops transdisciplinary research into visual thinking, combing visual art, social neuroscience and VTS to create new mindsets.

The Thinking Eye’s founder Janneke van Leeuwen leads our Look Again sessions in relation to our Touchstone programme, where we display a single photograph for contemplation and invite responses. Using VTS she has created an amazing atmosphere for looking, seeing, discussion and debate amongst those attending. I always leave the sessions with an incredible awareness of how differently we all see and analyse pictures.
